API's for Address Validation, Direct Mail Automation, and Mail Tracking
What is an API?
Application program interface (API) is a set of routines, protocols, and tools for building software applications. An API specifies how software components should interact. Additionally, APIs are used when programming graphical user interface (GUI) components. In the simplest terms, APIs are sets of requirements that govern how one application can talk to another.
How do APIs Work?
APIs expose some of a program’s internal functions to the outside world in a limited fashion. That makes it possible for applications to share data and take actions on one another’s behalf. APIs simplify all of this by limiting outside program access to a specific set of features—often enough, requests for data of one sort or another. For example, AccuZIP's Direct Mail RESTful API exposes Web Service CASS™ Certification, NCOALink® (COA), Duplicate Detection, FCM/STD Presort, Mail Tracking and Reporting and EDDM® Mailing List Creation to outside applications. Think of APIs as doors or windows. APIs clearly define exactly how a program will interact with the rest of the software world, saving time, resources and potentially nasty legal entanglements along the way. AccuZIP's APIs come with complete documentation, technical support, and training.
